Pizza Hut iPhone App

According to Mashable, Pizza Hut's iPhone app has generated over $1 million in revenue in the last 3 months! Wawaweewa!!

The app allows users to zoom in on a virtual fridge to check out the latest deals, find nearby locations and save favourite orders.

Watch the video for a full run down of its functionality - I like how they've taken advantage of iPhone's interface to customize toppings by dragging them and tilting them, as well as pinching the dough to select your size.

Bernard Acoca, the company's senior director of digital marketing, said "from an income standpoint iPhone customers tend to be more affluent, and they’re in the tech-savvy 18-34-year-old demographic skewing slightly male that we tend to go after online".

Here's a recent Nielsen chart illustrating smartphone (vs iPhone) demographic information in the US which illustrates Acoca's comment:

Nice to see companies creating fun and innovative applications with utility - it's obviously paying off!

Mobile will be HUGE in 2010 and beyond (especially with Andriod) - so is definitely a space that most companies targeting 18-34 year old men and women should be looking into, if they're not already.
